Are these trailers hand-built or mass-produced?

Every HighCountry Unlimited trailer is hand-built in Mesquite, Nevada. No assembly line. Each Conestoga Camper and Camp Mansion is built to order by our crew, frame up.

What does the base price include?

Accepted Answer

Unlike most overland trailers, the Conestoga ($26,649) and Camp Mansion ($26,649) ship fully kitted at base price. That includes the full aluminum frame, walking-beam suspension, sleeping setup (our integrated air-frame tent and mattress on the Conestoga; a 23Zero Walkabout 62 soft-shell rooftop tent on the Camp Mansion), four 5+ gallon gas jugs, in-bed cargo attachments, M12 Milwaukee tool kit, and the camp essentials you need to roll out the same day. You aren't adding $8,000 in must-have options after checkout.

What's the difference between the Conestoga Camper and the Camp Mansion?

Same chassis, same aluminum frame, same walking-beam suspension, same base price. The Conestoga uses our complete air-frame ground tent system with a lower mattress. The Camp Mansion swaps that out for a 23Zero Walkabout 62 soft-shell rooftop tent — built for the overlander who wants a fast, secure, off-the-ground sleeping setup.

Why an all-aluminum frame instead of steel?

Aluminum keeps the curb weight low compared to the steel-tube chassis most off-road trailers use. Lighter trailer means more vehicles can legally and comfortably tow it — including Subarus, mid-size SUVs, and compact trucks that would be over their rating with a steel-frame trailer. Aluminum also doesn't rust, which matters when you're parking the trailer outside between trips.

What is walking-beam suspension, and why does it matter off-road?

Accepted Answer

Walking-beam suspension lets each side's wheels articulate independently over rocks, ruts, and washboard. The trailer body stays more level, shock loads to your gear and your tow vehicle drop, and the trailer tracks behind you instead of bouncing on its springs. It's purpose-built for the kind of rough access roads overlanders actually drive.
